Out of left field and with a price tag to match, $538000 to be exact. While it is exciting to see that Mercedes is indeed putting its money where its mouth is in creating a production version of the SLS Electric Drive, we are curious as to who exactly has been demanding it? Diamler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche, also made the announcement during Mercedes-Benz’s 15-minute show that anyone interested in the car would be able to place their order that very same day.

The SLS AMG Electric Drive offers zero emissions, four center hub-mounted electric motors, 740hp supercar fun! 0-60 in 3.6 sec with its larger than life 600kW, 864 cell lithium-ion battery pack. Of course this doesn’t take into consideration a right foot that more than likely is made of led.

While we could live without the chrome blue with white wheels finish, we applaud Mercedes for taking a chance on a performance driven eco-car. The car does maintain an approachable and iconic design aesthetic, keeping with the SLS gul-wing skin. Making this one of the sexiest green (or blue) cars on the market today.
