With operations in both Texas and Oregon, the performance engineering specialists Cobb, recently expanded to Southern California, opening Cobb SoCal last year in Fountain Valley.
To celebrate its recently launched line of BMW performance parts, Cobb invited fans of all European brands to its facility for an introduction to the product line. Cobb started life developing parts for Subarus but has since expanded to other platforms, such as turbocharged BMWs and Fords.
For the open house, Cobb partnered with HRE Wheels (www.hrewheels.com), which brought a display of custom wheels as well as a number of cars. These included a Porsche 911 built by BBI Autosport and Kirk Villeneuve's Einser Raze BMW 1M.
The 1M was fitted with a Cobb Accessport, and had been professionally tuned by the SoCal staff, developing 397hp and 457 lb-ft to the wheels.
The open house drew a large group of SoCal enthusiasts, some who came to show off their own cars and get acquainted with what Cobb is all about. Other people were undoubtedly drawn by the opportunity to meet TV host, drifter and racecar driver Tanner Foust as well as skateboarding legend Bucky Lasek. Tanner, sponsored by Ford Racing, showed up in a new Focus ST, which Cobb is in the process of tuning.
