We refresh a Mini Cooper Clubman with some 3M vinyl wrap
Mini's come from the factory with vinyl options, and owner of this 2010 Mini Clubman, Alex Chavez, had the unfortunate luck of some terribly worn factory silver vinyl stripes. That's where 3M came in.
3M suggested we use their Scotchprint Wrap Film Series 1080 to bring some life back to the Mini and maybe add a bit of attitude, too, with matte black stripes instead of silver.
3M Scotchprint 1080 is the new standard in vinyl wrap films. Durable, pliable and great looking, you really can't go wrong unless you're daring enough to try the install yourself, in which case, you definitely can. Sure, you can do this yourself with some patience and the right tools, but here at Eurotuner and at 3M, a professional installer is recommended.
3M sent us over to AAA Flag & Banner in West Los Angeles, CA. These guys are no joke, working with some major brands and creating custom banners across the country. So of course, a job of this nature was quite a simple task for the AAA team.
The job was started by taking measurements of the factory vinyl stripes, then our new 3M Scotchprint 1080 was cut to size. After some careful and tedious removal of the worn vinyl, the surface was cleaned meticulously. Using a sharp edge, heat gun and a steady hand, the new stripes were laid down and smoothed.
In a few hours time, Alex's Mini was looking better than new and we love the way the Matte Black subtly accents the factory gloss black paint. What do you think?
Stay tuned for some more upgrades on this Mini to have it sitting right and tucking tire, just the way we like.
